Preserving Your Wedding Dress

You spent a great time in selecting that perfect dress for your wedding. You may now hope that the beautiful wedding gown be worn by your sister or your daughter on their ‘big day’ or you may want to treasure your wedding gown for sentimental reasons. In both the cases, you need to preserve the dress, in order to retain its beauty for the coming years. Many people do not know how to preserve their precious wedding dress and often end up in either spoiling the colour or fabric of the gown or even staining it.

People often dispose off their wedding dress bags, thinking that the plastic bag would be of no use in the future. A little known fact is that the bag can be very handy, when you want to preserve your wedding dress for the future. So, make sure to save the bag in which your wedding dress came.

In addition to the bag, you will need a clean, white cotton sheet to wrap the wedding gown. Wash the cotton sheet in hot water, before using it for the purpose. Do not use detergent to wash the sheet, because the chemicals might ruin the fabric of the sheet and eventually, your wedding gown.

Wrap the wedding gown in the washed and dried cotton sheet and then cover it with the plastic bag. Be careful while wrapping the gown, so as not to result in tearing away of the fabric.

Send your wedding dress for dry cleaning, one or two days after the wedding ceremony is over. Ensure that you send your precious gown to a professional dry cleaner, who specializes in preserving formal gowns. You may get some help from the bridal shop, about a good dry cleaner.

Ask the dry cleaner to take care of your gown, during the cleaning process. Alert him about the stains in the gown, if any. If the ornaments in the gown are glued on to it, rather than sewed, do not forget to inform the cleaner about the same.

Ask your dry cleaner to wrap the wedding gown in clean, acid-free tissue papers. Be sure to mention that you want the high quality tissue papers to be put in between the folds of the gown, to avoid permanent wrinkles on the dress.

Ensure that the dress is stored in an acid-free box, since the chemicals present in the acid can spoil the fabric of the gown. If possible, ask the cleaner to wrap the dress in an acid-free box, after completing the cleaning process.
After you have collected your wedding gown from the dry cleaner, place it in your closet, in a very neat manner. You may hang the wedding gown in a padded hanger, to avoid wrinkles.

The wedding gown should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. The temperature of the store room should also be taken care of. This is because the temperature has an indirect effect on the fabric of the gown, after it gets treated with chemicals during the dry clean.

Inspect your wedding dress on each anniversary to check whether it is in good condition or not. Make sure that you allow the dress to ‘breathe’ and then store it properly again.

Hair Style - an important aspect for Models

How to Tell If Short Hair Suits You

Not everyone can wear short hair (more on that down below). Find out with this fun, quick tip if a short haircut would suit you.
What Short Hairstyles Best Suit Your Face Shape?

Not all face shapes are suited to short hair.

The round face is the trickiest face shape for short hair. If you have a round face, consider a short cut that ends an inch or two below the jawbone. Request a few long layers, like this cut on Katie Holmes.

High forehead? Short cuts work well for women with large foreheads, as long as you get a version with blunt or side-swept bangs like this one.

Chin-length hairstyles work best on women with square jaws, because they soften the jaw.
Can You Wear a Super-Short Hairstyle?

As a tall woman, I would never, ever get a super-short hairstyle because I don’t want to be a pinhead. Women who are petite look great with super-short cuts. Avoid a super short hairstyle if you are very overweight. You want more hair to balance out your body.
What Hair Textures Work Best With Short Hair?

If you have straight hair, you’re in luck. A short hairstyle will be easy for you to maintain with little fuss. Invest in a few volumizers so hair doesn’t fall flat.

If you have wavy hair, you may require a blowdryer and flat iron.

Curly hair? Reconsider your quest for short hair. Curly hair tends to frizz up when cut short and it can make hair too triangular. Try to stay a couple inches lower than the jaw.

Consider your maintenance

Not all short haircuts are low-maintenance. They’re actually the hardest cuts to maintain, which is something to consider when getting your hair cut. You must get them trimmed every six weeks, they take styling products to keep them in check and you may have to invest in a flat-iron to keep waves at bay.

Short Hair By Hair Color

Here, we show off photo galleries of short hair cuts by color (black, blonde, brown and red).

Bikini Line Shaving

Shaving your bikini line is not difficult but you do need to do it properly to forego ingrown hair or razor rashes.  There are so many ways to groom body hair and many of them are painful. Threading, waxing, and plucking… ouch! These methods leave your skin painful, red, tender and unattractive. What do you do if you have a romantic evening planned and you need a little grooming “down there”? You’re fastest, cheapest and least painful way is to shave. If you have a little time you can also create a landing strip or a pretty heart shape with stencils!

To get started you’ll need scissors, a comb, mirror, razor, clear shaving gel or cream, after shave astringent and moisturizer. Use products that are made for the pubic hair region… it is much thinner than any other skin on your body and you want to avoid rashes and ingrown hair. You can purchase a kit with everything you need next time you want to be ready for shaving your bikini line.

Decide how much you want to groom your bikini line and pick a design if you have the time. Then follow the ten easy steps below to get the perfect bikini line shave without ingrown hair, razor rashes or other irritation.

1. Take a lovely bubble bath or long, warm shower to soften your hair.
2. Trim the hair with scissors until it is about 1/4 of inch long.
3. Draw a design with a stencil and pencil if you want a landing strip or other shape.
4. Apply your shaving gel or cream to the area to be shaved.
5. Using your razor shave in the opposite direction of the hair growth to get the closest shave.
6. Rinse your razor frequently and replace the blade if it starts to feel dull.
7. When you have finished shaving trim the hair that is left (if there is any) a little shorter until it looks neat.
8.  Rinse and dry it and then apply astringent.
9.  Wait until you are ready to get dressed and apply your moisturizer.
10. Let dry and get dressed.
Always use a new razor blade when shaving. A sharp blade makes for a closer and safer shave. Some people rub an ice cube over the shaved area after they have rinsed to help close the pores and prevent ingrown hair. You can do this or skip this step if you are using products made for pubic hair as they will prevent ingrown hair.

Never use commercial hair removal creams. Even those advertised for bikini line hair removal will burn most people and cause a great deal of pain. Fortunately for us we no longer need to rely on the painful methods used in the past. And after a clean smooth shave you feel the goodness of a princess.

Bridal lingerie has always occupied a special place in the wedding preparations for a bride, its demand is increasing as per the modern day improvements done to it.

Bridal lingerie is given special importance as it is supposed to enhance the beauty of the bride to make her look more appealing. Your Fashion Looks

So go out and buy four or five women's magazines that have fashion spreads.  It will be £15 to £20 well spent if it saves you making great gaffes and eliminates hours of trudging around a city sorting out what racks have panache.  August/September is always a great time to check the looks in magazines.  Likewise the February/March issues will always have articles that sum up the season.  Then after you have followed this guide, go window shopping, but remember your first view is simply a recce about town.  The fashion recce gives you time to absorb new ideas and think about your image planning strategy for your new wardrobe.

On this first shopping occasion leave your credit and debit cards at home.  Take only a limited amount of cash with you.  Spending real cash will make you think long and hard.  It's much easier to get entwined in a credit card transaction and often that will be for an impulse purchase.  If when you get home there was one item you really feel you made a mistake about not buying, then simply ring the store as you arrive home. Next ask them to hold the garment and even pay for it over the phone, or get it posted to you.   They can always do a refund for you if you feel it an error.

Impulse buys are often our finest buys.  We fall in love with some items that just scream 'me, me'.  Yet sometimes when you are trying to develop a new look, or update your appearance, you need just to see what is in the shops and get an overall picture of current fashion styles.

All you intend to do on the first visit is look to assess styles, colours and beauty ranges. You can also look at what's available online. I feature Wallis, TopShop, Next, Monsoon, New Look, Miss Selfridge and many more stores all of which cover a wide age range.  You should find some information in my 2007/8 trends section or later trends sections that will help you.

If you do take and use that credit card always ask the assistant 'Can I bring it back if my husband, boyfriend, partner, children, cat, dog etc., - hate it on me....'.  Find out if their returns deadline is within 1 or 2 weeks, or 28 days, or a fairly open policy of returns.  For example Laura Ashley UK will refund a credit card, or return cash within a 28 day return.  After that, they will not refuse to take an item back if its in the same season, but they will only give you a credit voucher to be spent in their shops. Sometimes, some sales goods such as at Debenhams are not returnable unless you repurchase a replacement different item at the time of refund.  Now Marks and Spencer have reduced their refund policy to 90 days and issue bar code refunds that only last 12 months.

Be aware though that if you remove the hanging tag labels most shops will likely refuse you a refund after making the assumption you removed the labels to enable you to wear an item, even if it is within the time limit for a refund.  Personally this irritates me because frankly I can never really decide if a skirt or trouser waistband really fits me correctly with bands of card labels and envelopes of spare buttons all sticking into my fleshy waistline!

Remember leave the credit card at home if you have the time to shop again soon.  Treat this as an opportunity to find out what's in style now and available near you.
