The thought of going back to school is running across mom’s minds all over the world. As your kids begin to get older it is all about being a fashion “guru” rather than a fashion “no-no”. In order to help them along their way and to lessen our frustration I will offer some fashion tips as most of our teens and pre-teens remind us of an old 80’s magazine.
The big things this fall for the kids to return to school are major to not only girls but the guys too are so up on the fashion chain it has become expensive. Although there are many discount stores you can visit to help the hit to the pocket. Some trends to follow are:
* Jeans, of course they are still skinny
* Military inspired clothing especially greens
* Natural looking makeup
* Accessories
* Shoes, shoes, shoes
When you are looking for articles of clothing some things to look for to stay on top even at the discount stores are jeans that are super skinny and look for bleach spots and tears. It seems the more destroyed the jeans look the more the kids want them. The rips and bleach are accomplishable at home with some very easy steps. Tears can be given with a simple razor blade  in the desired pattern then placed in the washing machine to allow the rips to fray. The bleach can be done in the bathtub by laying the jeans flat and placing the bleach in the places wanting to bleach; if you only want the bleach on one side slip a plastic bag in the pant leg to ensure there is no bleeding through. Leave the pants in the tub until the look is achieved.
Greens are really popular this fall and they can be worn in a jacket or stripes and plaids. Other patterns that are popular are tribal patterns worn with jeans or leggings. Anything crazy these days will work the louder the outfit the more the kids like them. Plaids are working well with button up shirts, rolled sleeves and high waste belts. As ugly as many of them are patchwork material popular as well used in jeans, shirts, shoes, and headbands.
Makeup is key in any girls wardrobe and luckily for us parents it is becoming natural. Sheer lipstick and eye shadow are contributing to the look as we can see more of our little girls and less hit to our pockets due to them going through the makeup like water. Me personally to achieve this look is Bare Minerals makeup especially great for those that suffer from acne. I have had acne for the better part of 20 years and I feel as if I have put that time of my life in the past due to this makeup.
Accessories are the entire craze in which this has been for the fast few years on a constant growing stream. This year the accessories are used to make the outfit pop and by that is to wear accessories that may be in the same color family but not an exact match or something that is a bright pop to the outfit.
Shoes, what woman does not love shoes, so this is not a new must have but some trends are changing. I am sure you have noticed a lot of bright colored sneakers and that is what’s happening. Boots of course are still in to match with those leggings although look for cute buckles or charm added to the boots. Flats luckily are still in those great baby doll shoes that every girl must have in all colors, remember the bright colors, the flashier the better. Chunky platforms, of course age appropriate, the chunk allows for easy walking as school is made for walking. Moccasins are also in as they are oh so comfortable and look great with those torn up worn out jeans.
That is just a sneak peak of what you may see in school and that special day whether it is beginning junior high, high school or college. Being fashionable is very important for our young people and many places are available to find great discounted clothing. Just you have to search out for them.
