Karthik Calling Karthik Pre-Release Review
‘Karthik Calling Karthik’, the much-anticipated flick with Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone in the Karthik Calling Karthikmain lead, is based on an interesting concept, combining the genres of romance and thriller. The plot of the movie is centered on Karthik (Farhan Akhtar), who is an introvert, shy and diffident, young man. He is struggling terribly in life, owing to a lack of self-belief and major confidence issues. He is slogging in an average job, where he is too miserable to churn out any productive results.
As if this was not enough, Karthik’s clandestine, one-sided feelings of love for his colleague Shonali (Deepika) only seem to add to his woes. For the cool and stylish Shonali, who is sure to succeed and make it big in life, he doesn’t even exist. While Karthik has almost made himself comfortable with his miserable and ‘good-for-nothing existence’, his life suddenly takes a freakish twist. One day, he receives a call from a man, who also claims to be Karthik. The man promises to change Karthik’s life for the better.
Taking the bait, Karthik accepts the offer and the man on the phone becomes his mentor, friend, Karthik Calling Karthik Moviephilosopher and guide. Soon, Karthik’s life begins to change in ways beyond even his wildest imaginations. He is able to woo Shonali and bring his love life on track, and also begins to untangle the complexities of his life. Who is the man guiding Karthik on the phone? Farhan said after the music release “The music of the film has been done of course by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy with whom I have always enjoyed working. They are absolute geniuses. Every song of this film is truly outstanding for me.”
“It is a complete album. There are happy songs, there are sad songs, and there is a song that can be played in a nightclub,” he added.
