Wardrobe malfunction at WIFW

At the Delhi designer’s 5.15 pm show on Day 3 of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in New Delhi, German model Christina’s cape dress slipped off her shoulder, for a split second, but the memory will linger on for long.

The designer who has worked on costumes for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming Indo-French opera, Padmavati, is in Paris and was unavailable for comment. But Fashion Design Council of India’s (FDCI) Sumeet Nair was unperturbed by the incident. “It was a fantastic show. The accident is not important,” he said matter-of-factly.

Foot fault

But the blip was a disaster waiting to happen. The ankle-length, patent leather boots sported by models at the show were obviously uncomfortable. They were at least two sizes bigger than normal, making the heel teeter when the girls walked down the smooth vinyl runway.

There were more than five instances when the models threatened to tumble, and model Bhawna Sharma almost went down. Perhaps perfectionist Pratap’s absence from the scene of crime made an inexcusable misfit of the boots.
