Miss Angola, Leila Lopes

Luanda – The business management student, Leila Lopes, born in Benguela province was elected on Saturday night in Luanda as Miss Angola 2011 enabling her to represent the country at Miss Universe 2011.


The 24-year old said who that she is divided between the passion for Benguela (homeland) the museums and the European life of the country where she resides as student United Kingdom, surpassed 20 candidates to replace Jurema Ferraz the winner of 2010 edition.

As a prize for the first place Leila Lopes takes home a brand new car, jewellery, a complete wardrobe, USD 2,000 offered by the Bank of Fomento Angola among other awards.


Beside the crown of Miss Angola 2011, Leila Lopes won the title of Miss Photogenic elected by photojournalists that covered the event.


During the election that had as VIP guest the Head of State, Jose Eduardo Dos Santos and the first lady Ana Paula dos Santos, the jury chose Edmilza Dos Santos from Malanje province as the first Lady of honour and Elizandra lopes from Huambo the Second Lady of honour.

As Miss Sympathy was chosen Delma Delque from the province of Cunene while the award for best clothes costume was awarded to Elsa Cruz from Luanda.


The gala was enlivened by musicians Walter and Nicol Ananas, Emilio Santiago, Yola Araujo, Celso Mambo and the group Black Fofas.
